The Beagle's Last Voyage

Once upon a time, in days not so distant, there assembled a learned company of bioinformaticians who did embark upon an extensive voyage aboard the good vessel Beagle, seeking remedies for those rare maladies which do sorely afflict mankind. They were animated by ardent passion for discovery, profound reverence for biological mysteries, and charity toward the suffering.

Throughout their expedition, they were welded into harmonious brotherhood. Whilst achieving sundry triumphs and discoveries, they likewise endured tempestuous gales, grievous losses, and bitter disappointments; yet never yielded to despair, but exhibited that admirable faculty of adaptation which characterises the most successful of Nature's creatures. These trials fortified their resolve, and they did accumulate treasures most wondrous — knowledge and experience beyond earthly riches.

Alas! The final tempest so grievously damaged their vessel that they found themselves compelled to abandon their enterprise. The honourable crew resolved that these hard-won treasures should not perish, but be bestowed upon all mankind.

Behold, gentle reader, the fruits of their labours!
